Israeli Intelligence Knew of Hamas Plans a Year Before Escalation: Reports

Israeli military intelligence was aware of Hamas's plans to initiate military operations a year before the escalation of conflict. This information was communicated to the General Security Service; however, Israel did not adequately prepare for the threat, Haaretz reports, citing anonymous defense officials.

Defense officials stated, "More than a year before the massive attack carried out by Hamas on Israel last month, military intelligence had detailed information about the group's plans to breach Gaza." It was noted that, according to the officials, Israel's political leadership was familiar with at least some of the intelligence data.
