VIDEO. King Pap Portrayed as Immoral Offender; Pashinyan Discusses His Historical Legacy

“How I will appear in history depends on who writes the history,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a broadcast on Public Television.

“Let’s return to our history. In traditional historiography, the most negative, satanic figure acting against national values and traditions, almost in cahoots with demons, is King Pap. When writing about King Pap, the evaluation is that he is immoral and guilty. However, when you look at the accounts of that man from the perspective of the historian who slanders him, you can say that King Pap is an exceptional state-oriented figure in our history,” Pashinyan noted.

According to him, if history is written by the same hand that wrote about King Pap, it is clear that the person will be depicted as the next demon, traitor, and land betrayer. “If it is written by another hand, for which the key value is the Republic of Armenia, it will say that he was a man who wanted and put all his efforts into making Armenia a sovereign, independent, and democratic state. Whether it succeeded or not, history will show that,” he said.
