UN Secretary-General Calls for Control of Climate Change
Edita
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has visited Antarctica and urged the world to take control of climate change, emphasizing the need to prevent record ice melt. He shared his message on his X microblog.
"I have come to Antarctica ahead of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) on Climate Change. Here, ice is melting at a record pace, leading to rising sea levels, while lives and livelihoods in coastal areas around the world are under threat. Let us take control of the climate crisis. Let us protect Antarctica to protect ourselves," wrote the UN leader.
It is noteworthy that in October, Guterres was at the foot of Mount Everest, where he called for action against rising temperatures.
