Former Head of Armenia's Enforcement Service Mihran Poghosyan Arrested in Moscow: Possible Extradition

The former head of the Armenian Judicial Acts Enforcement Service, Mihran Poghosyan, has been arrested in Moscow, according to reports from various media outlets. The former official was taken into custody yesterday.

Russian media state that the Armenian police central apparatus has already been informed about his arrest, and there is a possibility that Poghosyan will be extradited to Armenia in the near future.

It is worth noting that Mihran Poghosyan is wanted for large-scale property theft and abuse of office. He was previously discovered and arrested in Petrozavodsk, the Republic of Karelia, on April 19, 2019, and was released on May 28 of the same year. Since then, he has been living in a rented apartment in Petrozavodsk under police supervision.

On August 17, 2019, it became known that the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office rejected a request from the Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office for Poghosyan’s extradition, citing impossibility.

In April 2022, an asset seizure was imposed on Mihran Poghosyan, his wife and daughter, as well as individuals registered as owners and directors of companies connected to them.
