Dispute Among Fans of Wales National Football Team in Yerevan: Ministry of Internal Affairs Details

A dispute has occurred among fans of the Wales national football team in Yerevan. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

According to the Ministry, on November 18, at around 1:18 AM, a report was received at the police operational management center about a fight and brawl taking place on Pushkin Street. Subsequently, at 1:39 AM and 1:43 AM on the same day, additional reports were received about several individuals assaulting a citizen near the statue of Aram Khachaturian.

Police operational groups dispatched to the indicated locations determined that a dispute had arisen among fans of the Wales national football team near house number 43 on Pushkin Street. Under the influence of alcohol, they grossly violated public order, physically assaulted each other, causing bodily injuries, and continued their actions at the intersection of Mashtots and Sayat-Nova avenues.

Based on strong suspicions of hooliganism, 15 citizens from Wales and 1 from Papua New Guinea were arrested and taken to the Central Police Department. An additional 16 individuals were detained for appearing in a public place under the influence of alcoholic beverages but were later released.

The documents prepared and the 16 individuals were presented to the investigative department, where a criminal case was initiated. It is also noted that participants in the incident are disseminating information about the events through media, with a significant portion of it not corresponding to reality.
