Pashinyan on Complaints About Asphalt Quality in Yerevan

Today, November 24, during a live broadcast responding to citizens' video questions, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the complaints regarding the quality of asphalt in the streets of Yerevan. He stated, 'I definitely share your concerns and have raised the issue with the Yerevan municipality and the mayor, emphasizing the need to be very principled about the quality of asphalt.'

'I have seen several such complaints and have also had discussions with our partners at the municipality to address this issue. According to them, the problems may arise when urgent actions are taken. For example, in many cases, asphalt is dug up for replacing water lines, sewer lines, or electrical lines, which is carried out not by the Yerevan municipality but by various other companies. The partners of the Yerevan municipality remarked that the main quality issues occur in these areas,' he continued.

Pashinyan added that even if there are instances of poor quality work in the municipality or government programs, they do not pay for it. 'Guarantees must be established that payments are made only for quality work. There must be specific criteria for assessing that quality,' he said.
