What is the Situation at the Upper Lars Border Crossing from Georgia to Russia?
The Upper Lars checkpoint (Georgian-Russian border) has been opened for all types of vehicles. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by Vahan Hakobyan, the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia.
It should be noted that as of yesterday, the crossing was only allowed for passenger vehicles. 'Due to the cleaning works on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international significance automobile road, traffic for vehicles with trailers and semi-trailers has been restored,' Hakobyan told the news outlet.
According to him, traffic is conducted only through tunnels that protect against avalanches, under the direct supervision of the patrol police. Previously, it was reported that the Lars road was only closed for trucks.
