Details on the Chemical Drug Laboratory Discovered in Yerevan

"Specialists from other countries are also working in the secret laboratory for drug production in Yerevan," the Investigative Committee has revealed.

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of illegal drug production and cultivation of drugs with the aim of distribution. According to a statement from the Committee, on November 16, 2023, a report was received from the Central Division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, indicating that a group of individuals had established a secret drug production laboratory in a two-story house on Norqi Ayginer Street in Yerevan.

"Criminal proceedings have been initiated under part 1 of Article 393 of the RA Criminal Code, and the investigative team has been assigned to carry out the preliminary investigation. During the investigation, urgent investigative and procedural actions have been planned and executed. A search was carried out in the specified house, resulting in the discovery of 218 cannabis-like plants, a plastic container with 2 packages resembling 'Marijuana', another plastic container with 6 packages resembling 'Marijuana', a scale showing traces of white crystalline substances and greenish plant materials, 3 packages containing white powder-like substances, a bag with cannabis-like leaves, ultraviolet light-emitting devices, air humidifiers and drying equipment, fertilizers, containers intended for the growth of cannabis plants, a system for watering the plants, metal nets for drying cannabis, and other adapted items. The drug-like substances resembling 'Marijuana' weighed a total of 6599.199 grams.

A forensic chemical examination has been appointed to determine the composition and type of the discovered drug-like substances. Preliminary conclusions have already confirmed their nature as particularly large quantities of 'Marijuana'.

The search revealed that all areas of the two-story house were used for growing, processing, and producing drugs. It was found that this two-story house had been rented out, and experts from other countries were also working in the secret laboratory for drug production.

Within the framework of the proceedings, several individuals have been interrogated. Data has already been obtained regarding the identities of persons who committed the crime. The police have been instructed to locate these individuals and present them to the prosecuting authority.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances regarding drug cultivation and production in the specified house and to identify all individuals involved in it," the statement reads.
