Video: How Houthis Captured the Galaxy Leader Cargo Ship Linked to Israel
A complete video of the capture of the Galaxy Leader ship by Houthi rebels has been published online. It is noted that the ship was transporting vehicles from Turkey to India. According to the Russian service of BBC, the ship is indirectly linked to an Israeli businessman.
The video, compiled from footage from several cameras, shows armed individuals landing on the ship's deck from a helicopter, seizing the vessel, and escorting it to port with several boats.
The cargo ship was captured by the Houthis in the Red Sea on Sunday. They announced that this marks the beginning of a maritime war with Israel. The rebels of the 'Ansar Allah' movement confirmed the capture of the 'Israeli ship' during the operation in the Red Sea. They stated that the ship was pushed towards the shores of Yemen.
Previously, the Houthis declared they would attack any ship connected to Israel. However, Israeli authorities deny that Galaxy Leader belongs to the Jewish state and assert that no Israeli citizens are among the crew members.
The Japanese government has strongly condemned the capture of the Galaxy Leader cargo ship by Yemeni Houthi rebels in the Red Sea on Sunday. A government official stated that the ship is operated by Nippon Yusen. The Japanese side has indicated that efforts are underway to secure the release of the ship, which had 22 people on board.
"Currently, ministries and agencies, including the ministries of transport and foreign affairs, are gathering information and working with relevant countries to quickly secure the release of the ship and its crew," said Hirokazu Matsuno, the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan.
Nippon Yusen has reported that the Galaxy Leader was seized near the shores of Yemen on its way to India. It is noted that the crew members are citizens of the Philippines, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, and Mexico. There are no Japanese citizens among the crew.
