850 Armenian Trucks Await Opening of Upper Lars Checkpoint - Vahan Hakobyan

More than 850 Armenian trucks are currently waiting at the Upper Lars checkpoint for the road to reopen, both towards Russia and Georgia. This was stated in an interview with Sputnik Armenia by Vahan Hakobyan, the customs attaché of the Armenian Embassy in Russia.

“Currently, we have about 700 trucks heading towards Russia, while in the opposite direction, there are 150 trucks,” he noted.

Hakobyan informed that as soon as the risk of avalanches in the Khachi mountain pass subsides, the Georgian side will begin clearing work, and if there are no further precipitation, the road can be opened.

It is noteworthy that all types of vehicular traffic along the military road have been temporarily halted since yesterday. The reason is the worsening weather conditions.
