Video: Strong Winds Cause Tree to Fall on Car in Russia, Fatalities and Injuries Reported

In Novokuznetsk, Russia, a strong wind caused a tree to fall on a car carrying people, resulting in two fatalities. Local media reports that the deceased include a 58-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, according to the local Investigative Committee.

In the car with them were also a 71-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man, both of whom have been hospitalized. A criminal case has been opened for negligence leading to the deaths of two individuals.

Earlier reports indicated that an advertising sign had fallen on a local resident. According to media sources, the woman hospitalized from that incident is in moderate condition.

The city’s mayor, Sergey Kuznetsov, stated that Novokuznetsk has not encountered such a storm since 1978. A decision has been made to declare a high alert mode.
