Israeli Surveillance Balloons Malfunctioned on Hamas Attack Day: Daily Mail
Three out of seven Israeli surveillance balloons near the Gaza Strip were reported to be malfunctioning on the day of Hamas’s attack on Israel, according to the Daily Mail, citing security sources and sources in the aircraft manufacturing sector.
"The surveillance balloons, which could have warned of Hamas's devastating attack on October 7, were in a deplorable state as they had not been updated or properly maintained," the newspaper stated.
According to the publication's sources, the balloons had long been a key part of Israel's early warning system against threats, and if they had operated correctly on the day of the attack, everything could have unfolded differently. The newspaper's sources blamed the malfunction of the balloons on Israeli authorities, alleging that they did not invest the necessary resources into them.
The publication notes that some of the balloons continued to fly over the border with Gaza despite the malfunctioning technology.
