What Biden and Xi Jinping Discussed
US President Joe Biden stated during negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping that the United States will continue to support Ukraine. This information comes from a White House press release following their discussions.
“President Biden reaffirmed that the United States, together with its allies and partners, will continue to support Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Biden emphasized that this support is necessary “to ensure that Ukraine emerges from the conflict as a democratic, independent, sovereign, and prosperous nation able to defend itself.” He also reiterated that the US opposes any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side.
“We look forward to a peaceful resolution of the differences on both sides of the Taiwan Strait,” he said. The President called for “restraint from the PRC regarding the use of military actions in and around the Taiwan Strait.” The White House noted that Biden “emphasized the United States' support for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.”
