Armen Ashotyan to Remain in Custody as Defense Appeal is Rejected, Lawyer Says
The former Minister of Education and Science and a member of the Republican Party, Armen Ashotyan, will remain in custody. This was reported on his Facebook page by lawyer Ruben Melikyan.
"By the decision of the appellate judge Sergey Marabyan, the appeal of Armen Ashotyan's lawyers has been rejected, and the custody measures applied to him have been left unchanged. We have not yet received the decision," he wrote.
It should be noted that on October 11, Ashotyan's detention was extended for three months. The vice president of the Republican Party was charged in November 2022 with abusing official powers and money laundering.
