ID issuance has not been halted: This was announced by Armen Ghazaryan, the Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia at the National Assembly of Armenia.

“The issue is that the relevant electronic chip, which is present on the IDs, is currently, due to the wear and tear of the system, not being produced anymore. We are unable to issue IDs with that electronic chip, but IDs are being issued and a temporary solution has been chosen - ensuring the electronic signature system through a mobile ID until the new system is implemented,” Ghazaryan noted.

In this regard, observations were made by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan. “When you approach with your passport, in almost every other country they take your passport, look at it, understand it. You even feel ashamed to say that you are a public official,” said Simonyan.
