Military Draft Age in Armenia is Low, Should Be Increased, Says MP

The military draft age of 27 years is low in Armenia. I will soon begin a series of discussions to raise the draft age. This was stated today, November 14, at a press conference by the author of the initiative, MP Hayk Sargsyan from the "Civil Contract" faction.

"For example, in neighboring Azerbaijan, the draft age is between 19 and 40 years, in neighboring Turkey it is 20 to 41, in Greece it is 19 to 45, and in Syria it is 18 to 42," he said.

It is noteworthy that MP Hayk Sargsyan has introduced a draft law that will allow citizens who are over 27 and have not completed mandatory military service to be exempt from criminal liability in exchange for money.
