Russia to Create New Fifth-Generation Fighters

Preparatory work has commenced in Russia for the production of the first prototypes of fifth-generation Checkmate fighters. This was announced by the Rostec state corporation ahead of the Dubai Airshow 2023.

A spokesperson for the agency clarified that the project was presented in 2021, but modifications have been made based on the work completed, which has delayed the timeline for the first flight. As a result, it has been possible to refine the project’s cost and the fighter’s individual technical solutions. Currently, the design documents have already been submitted to the manufacturer.
