World Championship Silver Medals and 10 Medals for Armenian Sambo Team

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia reports that the national teams of Armenia concluded the 2023 World Sambo Championship for adults in Yerevan with 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

On the final day of competition, Avetik Poghosyan, Boris Shatveryan, and Davit Grigoryan earned the title of vice-champion, while Vachik Vardanyan secured a bronze medal.

Overall, the Armenian teams won a total of 10 medals at the championship held in Yerevan. The vice-champions were Aram Aghajanyan (71kg), Boris Shatveryan (79kg), Davit Grigoryan (98kg), and in combat sambo, Avetik Poghosyan (88kg) and Vahram Grigoryan (64kg).

Bronze medals went to Vahagn Chalyan (88kg), Varsik Grigoryan (54kg), Vachik Vardanyan (71kg) in combat sambo, Sarkis Vardanyan (79kg), and Arman Avanesyan (98kg).

The Armenian teams participated in the World Championship under the leadership of Vovik Khojayan, with coaches Haik Avetisyan and Ernest Mirzoyan.
