Truly Spectacular: President of the International Sambo Federation on the World Championship Held in Yerevan

The President of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), Vasili Shestakov, spoke about the World Championship of Sambo 2023 held in Yerevan.

"The Sambo World Championship was truly spectacular and offered athletes and spectators new vivid emotions and victories. I would like to highlight the success of Cameroonian sambo athlete Seidu Njie Mulu. I am very happy that the geography of the countries winning medals is expanding," Shestakov's statements are quoted by FIAS's press service.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Armenian Sambo Federation and the main partners of the World Championship for their support in organizing and hosting the World Cup on the 85th anniversary of Sambo.

The tournament was held in Yerevan from November 10 to 12.

As we previously reported, the Armenian teams concluded their performances at the 2023 World Sambo Championship for adults with 5 silver and 5 bronze medals.

On the last, third day of the competition, Avetik Poghosyan, Boris Shatveryan, and Davit Grigoryan earned the title of World Championship runners-up, while Vachik Vardanyan became a bronze medalist.
