VIDEO: Putin on Attempts by Certain Countries to Eliminate Legitimate Authority in the CIS

Some countries are attempting to undermine legitimate authority, traditional values, and the overall situation in the CIS countries. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in a video address to participants of the meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS, as reported by TASS.

“Global instability is also being transmitted to Eurasia. Moreover, the actions of certain countries are aimed directly at undermining legitimate authority, social stability, and traditional values in the CIS countries, as well as disrupting our traditional close trade, cooperation, and cultural ties,” he said.

Putin drew attention to the fact that common threats for CIS countries remain terrorism and organized crime, illegal drug trafficking, illegal migration, radicalism, and extremism, as well as risks in the fields of economic, informational, technological, and biological security.

“All of this requires not only a coordinated collective response but also greater proactive work. It is important to make maximum use of the predictive and information-analytical potential of security councils in the CIS region and to conduct a thorough and comprehensive study of the situation globally, to clearly define priorities, and to timely adjust strategic planning documents,” he noted.

The Russian president is confident that cooperation through the Security Councils will continue to serve to strengthen the stability and security of the CIS countries and develop coordinated approaches to achieving common goals.
