‘Netanyahu is Morally Destroyed’: Former Israeli Prime Minister
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "morally destroyed" due to his significant failure in national security and is in a "nervous breakdown" as he attempts to avoid stepping down following the Hamas attack in early October. This was stated by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in an interview with Politico, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Netanyahu made a mistake. He is morally destroyed, that is definite. I mean, something terrible has happened to him. Bibi (Netanyahu's nickname) has worked his entire life under the careless pretext that he is ‘Mr. Security’. He is ‘Mr. Foolishness’. Every minute he is Prime Minister, he poses a danger to Israel. I am sure that the Americans understand that he is in a bad situation,” Olmert said.
He also added that Netanyahu is in a “nervous breakdown,” fearing that he will lose his position following the events of October 7.
According to Olmert, Netanyahu is miscalculating by preparing to take overall security responsibility for the Gaza Strip for an uncertain time if Hamas were to be defeated.
“It is not in Israel's interest to control Gaza's security. It is beneficial for us to be able to defend ourselves in a way that is different from what we did before the October 7 attack. But again, to re-control the Gaza Strip? No,” he stated.
It is worth noting that earlier the Israeli Prime Minister had claimed that he believes Israel could assume responsibility for governing the Gaza Strip for a certain period.
