G7 Expresses Concern Over Forced Relocation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh
The Group of Seven (G7) countries are expressing concern over the forced relocation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh following Azerbaijan's military actions. This was stated in a joint declaration by the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the G7 at the conclusion of a two-day meeting in Tokyo.
“We are greatly concerned about the humanitarian consequences of the relocation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh following military operations carried out by Azerbaijan. We urge Azerbaijan to fully comply with obligations under international humanitarian law and to welcome international efforts to address the urgent humanitarian needs of those displaced from their homes,” the statement reads.
The declaration further notes that the G7 supports steps aimed at establishing lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the principles of non-use of force, respect for sovereignty, inviolability of borders, and territorial integrity.
