The Diocese of Artsakh and Its Status are Preserved: New Decision

Former Human Rights Defender of Armenia and the President of the Tatoyan Foundation, Arman Tatoyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

“The Supreme Spiritual Council, under the leadership of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, made the right decision on November 3 to preserve the Diocese of Artsakh and its status. I welcome the statement of the Supreme Spiritual Council released during their meeting from October 31 to November 3, 2023, regarding this matter and the reference to the violations of the rights of the people of Artsakh as a consequence of Azerbaijani genocidal actions (specifically with such phrasing).

The Armenian Apostolic Church has always played a significant role and continues to do so in consistently presenting the encroachments on Armenian monuments and shrines, and violations of the rights of our compatriots (including torture, killings, forced displacements, etc.) on all possible international platforms, including legal, inter-church, and inter-religious ones.”
