Shooting in Tavush: 25-Year-Old Hospitalized, Details

Today, gunshots were heard in the Tavush region. A citizen with gunshot wounds has been transferred to the 'Ijevan' medical center. According to Shamshyan.com, the Tavush police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Jora Simonyan from the Aygehovit community in Tavush.

Doctors have informed the police and investigators that the victim is in extremely critical condition, currently in surgery, and is unable to provide an explanation about the incident.

According to the website, law enforcement agencies have established that around 12:30 today, J. Simonyan and his fellow villager, 20-year-old Razmik Blblyan, were collecting firewood in a section of land known as 'Yerkarg T'ala' near the Aygehovit community. At that moment, a 62-year-old villager, Martun Yesayan, approached them and demanded that they leave the area. However, according to operational information, J. Simonyan allegedly shouted insults at M. Yesayan, after which Yesayan left. About 30 minutes later, he returned armed and opened fire at J. Simonyan.

Law enforcement officials have located M. Yesayan, who has been taken to the Ijevan police station. The Tavush regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case on the grounds of 'attempted murder.'

According to G. Shamshyan's information, M. Yesayan is a former forest ranger. Notably, his son had committed a murder with exceptional brutality in August 2022 in the Tavush region, cutting off the victim's ears and setting the body on fire to eliminate traces.

According to a photojournalist, the victim has been transferred from the 'Ijevan' medical center to the 'Mikaelyan' Surgical Institute in Yerevan.
