‘Official Yerevan’s Demonstrative Anti-Russian Gesture’: Zakharova on the Destruction of Allied Relations
We view this meeting as an official Yerevan’s demonstrative anti-Russian gesture. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on the participation of Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan in a meeting with Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, in Malta during the third international conference on Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace initiative.
“If you are talking about the so-called Copenhagen format meeting in Malta, then we view it as an official Yerevan’s demonstrative anti-Russian gesture,” Zakharova said.
Zakharova also recalled the visit of Armenia's Prime Minister's wife, Anna Hakobyan, to Kyiv, and the meeting of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, with the Chairman of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, in Dublin.
“In Yerevan, I believe they should take account that there are demonstrative ‘love games’ with aggressive antagonists against our country. There is no other definition here. It is regrettable that the current leadership of the republic is purposefully and stubbornly destroying our allied relations, which not long ago they themselves called a crucial factor for Armenia’s stability and prosperity,” Zakharova stated during another press briefing.
Zakharova also addressed the anti-Russian sentiments spread in Armenian media. “I read and watch a lot. But this is not only an insult, but also blatant anti-Russian sentiment. We understand who is behind the financing of these resources. If they think that we do not know who is paying for all this, we do know,” said the Foreign Ministry representative.
