Yerevan Metro to Undergo Renovation: Funding Amount Announced

The Yerevan Metro is in urgent need of investment, with over $11 million allocated for 2024. The funds will be directed towards the renovation and construction of a new station. This was stated by Vahe Hovhannisyan during parliamentary hearings on the state budget proposal.

“For many years, no funds have been allocated to the metro, and urgent expenses have been covered from the government’s reserve fund,” he noted.

Additionally, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan addressed the situation of the metro during a city hall operational meeting, indicating that we are in a hazardous situation, referring to an incident that occurred in the metro. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
