Red Cross on Levon Mnatsakanyan's Possible 'Murder'

Yesterday, information circulated on the internet that Levon Mnatsakanyan, the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, had been beaten to death in prison by Azerbaijani forces.

Auroranews contacted Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs at the Armenian office of the International Committee of the Red Cross, regarding this matter. "I cannot say anything; we do not publicize any comments related to individuals detained by the other side. Any questions concerning their conditions of detention, treatment, health status are only discussed with the authorities, and we are also in contact with their family members, who may seek our comments at any time regarding such information. However, these pieces of information are confidential, and we do not disclose them," said Amatuni.

She noted that they had already confirmed that a visit took place on October 20. "Our representatives met with them. In that context, we focused on health issues, treatment issues, and we offered and assisted in establishing contact with family members, but apart from that, we do not publish any other information," she added.

It is worth mentioning that retired colonel and veteran Voloida Hovhannisyan had alerted that he received information about Levon Mnatsakanyan being beaten to death in the Azerbaijani prison.
