We Are in a Truly Dangerous Situation: Avinyan on Metro Operations
We are in a dangerous situation, there has been an incident in the metro, fortunately, there are no casualties. This was stated by Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a session of the Yerevan City Hall operational meeting.
Avinyan asked Babken Sedrakyan, the acting director of the 'Karen Demirchyan Yerevan Metro' CJSC, whether the financing issue had been resolved.
'There hasn't been any resolution last week either. It has been over 6 months that this process has been repeating,' Sedrakyan replied.
Babken Sedrakyan detailed, 'We have presented the costs related to 32 train units and 4 km of rails, approximately 400 million for the train units and 200 million for the rails. The oversight is only from the Ministry of Finance, they say they have calculated it in the 2024 budget.'
Avinyan noted that there has been an incident in the metro, fortunately without casualties.
'We are indeed in a dangerous situation and bureaucratic senseless delays are creating additional risks. This program is one of the most urgent in Armenia,' Avinyan emphasized.
