Over 400 Kilometers of Underground Tunnels Dug in Northern Gaza: Iran's Chief of Staff

Israel will suffer another humiliating defeat during its ground assault on the Gaza Strip, stated the Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, noting that resistance forces have dug more than 400 kilometers of underground tunnels in northern Gaza, according to Tasnim.

Speaking at a civil defense conference held in Tehran, Major General Baqeri stated that one of the factors contributing to the resilience of resistance in Palestine is the attention given to civil defense issues.

“In northern Gaza, (Palestinian) militants claim to have constructed over 400 kilometers of tunnels. Some of these tunnels are wide enough for vehicles and motorcycles to pass through,” said the top commander.

The general pointed out that the tunnels have access to the Gaza Strip, while the other end is behind barriers and Zionist forces.

General Baqeri added that the Israeli regime has been defeated both on the battlefield and in global public opinion. “If they wish to act rationally, they will have to agree to a ceasefire sooner and gain time through negotiations,” he remarked.

He noted that the Israeli army is delaying its ground invasion of the Gaza Strip because it realizes that such an operation would constitute yet another defeat for them. “Palestinian militants are prepared for the Israeli ground assault,” he asserted.
