Road Transport Accident Statistics Are Concerning: Nikol Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan participated in an event marking the launch of the Police Patrol Service division in Vayots Dzor.

Commenting on the concerning statistics regarding road transport accidents in the republic, the Prime Minister stated: “I want us to focus on this issue. It is very important to have zero tolerance towards violations of traffic rules. This will save lives, preserve people's health, and help people treat their own and public property with more care. It is clear that, on one hand, the number of vehicles in our country is increasing, and on the other hand, the quality of roads and the temptation of higher-speed driving is growing. There are also issues related to the safety of old vehicles. These are nuances that we have not paid attention to for many years, but now we must understand that the accuracy of these nuances is dependent on our road transport accident statistics. In general, the entire police structure in the republic is changing,” the Prime Minister noted, adding that reforms in the sector have been conducted following numerous discussions.

It should be reminded that the Patrol Service was first implemented in Yerevan in 2021. On July 7, 700 retrained patrol officers were deployed for the first time to ensure public safety.
