If You Have Money, Go Down to the Central Station. You Are Dividing the Nation into the Wealthy and the Poor - Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan

“Think carefully before making decisions: Raising parking prices in Yerevan according to zoning, supposedly to alleviate the center, is not even close to justifiable by one percent. Whatever price you set, there will still be users. This was written by Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan, the former head of the Police Department of Passports and Visas on Facebook.

In other words, in a space meant for one car, another car will park again; there will be no free spots, and the center will not be alleviated. It is not the case that, now, about 10 cars are crammed together, parked three meters above in several levels; you are raising prices and leaving just one.

This decision also has a very dangerous side: you are dividing the nation into the wealthy and the poor. If you have money, go down to the central station; if you don’t, stand on the street, walk here,” he stated.

It should be noted that today the “Fact” newspaper reported that from 2024, parking fees in the center of the capital, known as “red lines,” will significantly increase. Moreover, according to the website's source, the principle of zoning will be in effect; conveniently termed, a more “dense” center and a relatively “light” center. The amount of the fee will be determined based on this zoning, but it will still be disproportionately higher than the current price.
