The Russian Army Aviation Has Received the World's Heaviest Serial Helicopter

The Russian Army Aviation of the Aerospace Forces has received the world's heaviest serial helicopter, the upgraded Mi-26T2V, this year. This was announced by the head of Army Aviation Igor Romanov in an interview with the "Krasnaya Zvezda" newspaper.

“The Army Aviation fleet is updated every year with the acquisition of new and upgraded aviation equipment. At the same time, it is important to maintain close cooperation with organizations and industrial enterprises, as the quality of operation of new helicopters in the units and formations greatly depends on this. This year, we have already received and continue to receive Ka-52M, Mi-28NM, Mi-8AMTSh-V, Mi-8MTV-5M, as well as Mi-26T2V,” Romanov noted, adding that the industry is supplying aviation technology to the Army Aviation on schedule, without any delays.

The Mi-26T2V is a heavy transport helicopter with a payload capacity of 20 tons. The machine is equipped with the NPK90-2V airborne electronic equipment integrated complex, allowing it to operate day and night by executing automatic flights along a predetermined route, entering and landing at designated points. The Mi-26T2V features an air defense system that protects against anti-aircraft missile systems. The crew of the upgraded helicopter consists of five members.
