Reports of Torture, Mutilation and Other Incidents Documented by Ombudsman on Azerbaijani Aggression

The situation regarding the protection of human rights in border areas due to Azerbaijan's aggression is of serious concern. This was stated today by Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan during a meeting with Anne-Laurence Petelini, a member of the French National Assembly and co-chair of the France-Armenia Friendship Group in the French Senate. This information is reported by the press service of the Armenian Ombudsman.

The Armenian Ombudsman presented the human rights challenges related to the security of the Armenian border, based on fact-finding efforts conducted in various communities, including the community of Yeraskh.

“During the fact-finding work, the Ombudsman’s office received information about incidents of death, torture, body desecration, mutilation, and other prohibited incidents of ill-treatment against civilians as a result of Azerbaijani aggression in Nagorno-Karabakh,” the statement reads.

The Ombudsman also noted that this information has been included in the special report of the Human Rights Defender and has been presented to international organizations and actors responsible for human rights protection, including being submitted to the International Court of Justice as a document documenting human rights violations.
