Legal Action Against Journalist and Editor by Alen Simonyan

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, has filed a lawsuit for defamation against MP Anna Mkrtchyan and Angela Tovmasyan, the editor-in-chief of Hayeli.am. Simonyan announced this on his Telegram page.

"Yesterday, I submitted two lawsuits to the court, one against Anna Mkrtchyan and the other against Angela Tovmasyan. Both are based on defamation claims. By the way, this is already the second lawsuit against A. Mkrtchyan. As for A. Tovmasyan, this is the first; there was a line that should not have been crossed, Madam. You should understand that just because people are no longer beaten in Armenia, it does not give anyone the right to insult others left and right. From today, go and think about what statements you will make, who you will accuse, because if the court compels you to apologize, in the end, you will still have to give a sensible apology," the Speaker of the National Assembly elaborated.
