Who Are the 4 New Deputy Mayors of Yerevan?
Today, an extraordinary session of the Yerevan City Council took place, attended by 48 council members. The agenda of today's meeting included the election of deputy mayors of Yerevan.
Armen Pambukhchyan was elected as the first deputy mayor of Yerevan with 32 votes in favor and 5 abstentions. The following deputy mayors were also elected: Levon Hovhannisyan with 31 votes in favor and 5 abstentions, Suren Grigoryan with 32 votes in favor and 5 abstentions, and Sargis Madatyan with 32 votes in favor and 5 abstentions.
It is noteworthy that 3 of the deputy mayors are from the Civil Contract Party, and 1 is from the Republic Party. Additionally, the leader of the National Progress faction, Aram Torosyan, urged the Public Voice faction not to participate in the votes designated for the formation of municipal authorities. “I urge you not to register for the voting on the election of deputy mayors; quorum will not be secured, therefore the session will not take place, and the authorities will not be formed,” declared Aram Torosyan. Following this statement, members of the National Progress faction left the meeting hall.
The Public Voice faction also announced that they would abstain from voting for all candidates, as they are unfamiliar with them and their activities.
