100,000 Inmates Have 'Disappeared' in Russia

Russia has released up to 100,000 inmates and sent them to Ukraine to fight, reports The Washington Post.

Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Vysevolod Vukolov stated during one of the panel discussions that the number of inmates in Russia was approximately 420,000 before February 2022, but has now decreased to a historical low of about 266,000.

Olga Romanova, head of the foundation 'Rусь сидящая', mentioned that the Russian Ministry of Defense has likely recruited around 100,000 prisoners to participate in military operations. 'This is a shocking number. At the beginning of the war, there were 420,000 inmates, and we know that Prigozhin had recruited about 50,000,' said Romanova.
