In my personal opinion, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev lacks comfort. This statement was made today, October 25, by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, during a conversation with reporters regarding the cancellation of the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels.

When asked why Aliyev is avoiding the meeting, Simonyan stated: "Thanks to our effective diplomatic work, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister, and parliamentary diplomacy, I believe we have managed to bring our European and Western partners to the point where we do not receive dual statements."

In response to the question of whether the "3+3" format may have hindered the upcoming meeting in Brussels, Alen Simonyan said: "I do not think it will hinder; after all, we cannot remain outside the processes occurring in our region. The '3+3' format is a process taking place in our region, and it is important for our country to stay engaged with our immediate neighbors."

Referring to discussions about Armenian-Azerbaijani relations not being held in another platform, the Speaker stated: "We should not say that we will definitely not discuss peace and regional security anywhere else; that would be incorrect. If you do not discuss regional security with the countries of the region, are they going to go to Asian formats for discussions? I consider the '3+3' format as a nascent format, and I do not want to provide evaluations on that aspect just yet."

Earlier, we reported that the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, announced that there would be no meeting at the end of October between Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The EU Special Representative cited time constraints as the reason.
