Number of Artsakh Residents Who Left Armenia Revealed

More than 10,000 displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh have left Armenia. This information was provided by former Artsakh Prime Minister Artak Beglaryan during the conference titled "Progress Amid Uncertainty" held by APRI Armenia.

He emphasized the need for displaced individuals to see certainty in Armenia. Many may leave Armenia, but many may also stay, and conditions must be created for that. It is essential to understand that the issue is political, rather than humanitarian. We must focus on the causes rather than the consequences.

Beglaryan believes that both the Armenian authorities and international organizations share responsibility. He expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a strategic goal within the Armenian government. "They chose the path of assimilation, and I would like to see people returning to their homeland, at least at a high level of autonomy, with international guarantees. Russian peacekeepers and international organizations have failed in their mission. Now, ideally, the deployment of UN peacekeepers is necessary for the return of Armenians to Artsakh. Furthermore, Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding areas must be demilitarized," he stated.

According to Beglaryan, this crisis is a result of genocide perpetrated by Azerbaijan based on anti-Armenian policies.
