Aliyev Has Not Found Time: Mirzoyan Shares His Thoughts on the Cancelled Meeting in Brussels

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, believes that it is clear the meeting scheduled in Brussels did not take place because Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev did not have time. He stated this during a press briefing after a meeting with his Canadian counterpart in response to a journalist's question.

It was previously announced that Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, had declared that the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, would not take place in Brussels.

According to official information, the lack of time was the reason for the meeting's cancellation, but it was not mentioned who lacked the time. “You are asking who did not have time for the meeting. It is obvious that it was the President of Azerbaijan. We are still ready to participate in that meeting. I hope that indeed the issue is about specific timelines, and it will be possible to agree on new dates for a meeting in the near future,” said Mirzoyan.

He emphasized that Armenia continues to adhere to the peace agenda. Earlier, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, also hypothesized that the issue lies precisely in the position of the Azerbaijani side.
