Potential New Outbreak in the Region Could Affect Everyone: Netanyahu-Macron Meeting
During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Hamas threatens not only the Jews but the entire world, emphasizing the need to neutralize the group. He also reported that Hamas is holding 30 children hostage.
French media reported that Macron expressed the belief that the international coalition fighting the Islamic State should also combat Hamas. He highlighted that restarting the Palestinian peace process is imperative following the crisis created by Hamas's deadly attacks.
“I warn Hezbollah, the Iranian regime, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and all those groups that threaten Israel: a new outbreak could occur in the region, which will affect everyone,” stated the French President.
Macron was also received by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who assured that they are not seeking confrontation on the northern border or with other countries, but are focused on destroying Hamas's infrastructure. “If Hezbollah also tries to get involved, Lebanon will pay the price,” Herzog emphasized.
He also called on the international community to protect Jews living in various parts of the world against anti-Israel sentiments.
Macron noted that the immediate priority is the release of hostages. “You are not alone in this battle against terrorism. I believe it is our duty to fight against terrorist groups, but without expanding this conflict,” added the French President.
