Forgive Fines Imposed on Artsakh Drivers for Violations: MP Appeals to Government
I appeal to the Government of Armenia to forgive fines imposed on our citizens forcibly displaced from the Republic of Artsakh, during the period from September 25 to October 31 of this year, for traffic violations committed while driving vehicles. This was stated by Seyran Hayrapetyan, an MP of the Artsakh National Assembly.
“Recognizing that all are equal before the law, the reason for my request is that drivers of that category have been driving in Artsakh without the supervision of speed cameras. Due to objective reasons, it was not possible to implement stricter controls regarding tinted windows, insurance, technical inspections, and several other issues (for about 10 months, due to fuel shortages, vehicles have hardly been used, etc.). Continuous military aggression from the adversary, blockade, the tragic situation regarding gasoline reserves, followed by forced displacements, has left drivers unfamiliar with the roads in Armenia and in a state of severe psychological distress.
If my message does not reach the responsible authorities, I will present it in writing.
To our compatriots forcibly displaced from Artsakh, I also urge that we adapt as soon as possible to the new requirements, while keeping road traffic rules and safety to avoid accidents and fines,” he wrote.
