Blinken Confident That Israel and Gaza Cannot Return to Status Quo

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is confident that Israel and Gaza cannot return to the status quo and that a new mechanism is needed to prevent repeated attacks from Hamas.

In an interview with NBC, Blinken was asked about Israel's strategy towards Gaza and who would govern it once the conflict ends. He stated, “I think we understand two things: We cannot return to the status quo; they cannot return to a status where Hamas can repeat what it did.”

He added that “something new needs to be found,” emphasizing that, according to his information, Israel does not intend to take control of the Gaza Strip.
