I Have Much to Tell You, But It Poses Great Dangers,” Shahramanyan to Artsakh Residents
I have much to tell you, but what I have to say contains great dangers for the future of both Armenia and Artsakh. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, during a speech to the Artsakh residents who were holding a protest outside the representation office in Armenia on October 20.
“We are all in a very difficult, extremely harsh situation, and what is happening here exacerbates our condition. I have no enemies here; our enemy is one, and we all know that. I am responsible for all my actions before all of you and your families. There have been different remarks made here. I am also prepared to talk about gasoline. We have another homeland, the Republic of Armenia, and we do not have the right to jeopardize Armenia’s fate. I am ready to meet with everyone and discuss what you accuse me of or what questions you want to address,” said the President of Artsakh.
He proposed to meet next week. However, this suggestion resulted in dissatisfaction among those present. “Everything has an answer,” Shahramanyan stated. One of the participants remarked, “You didn’t come out and say on television that so many people died due to the explosion of the gasoline depot, I express my condolences, that we have lost this many victims, I express my condolences.”
“Please choose 20-30 people from among yourselves; have a calm conversation in the hall,” the President of Artsakh suggested as an alternative. Another option is to organize a meeting at the beginning of next week. However, the situation did not calm down, and the attendees did not allow the Artsakh President to finish his speech, as they raised various pressing questions.
Earlier, we reported that the situation was tense at the building of Artsakh's representation office in Armenia. A group of Artsakh residents, who were protesting outside the building, later entered the premises.
