European Parliament Member Calls for Benzema to be Stripped of French Citizenship and Golden Ball: The Reason Explained
European Parliament member Nadine Morano has commented on the situation regarding Karim Benzema. According to sports.ru, after Benzema spoke in support of the residents of Gaza amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, France's Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin announced links between the former forward of the French national team and Real Madrid with terrorists. "Benzema is linked to the 'Muslim Brotherhood.'"
Senator Valérie Boyer, who represents the center-right conservative Republican party, has called for Benzema to be stripped of his French citizenship and the Golden Ball award. "He condemned the unjust bombings and dedicated his thoughts to the people of Gaza. No one should be judged for defending the Palestinian people. What is profoundly shocking is that he knew it had significant implications when 20 million people are watching you. His message was exclusively targeted. He is French, born in Lyon, holds dual citizenship, and he never mentioned the French victims, including French hostages held in Gaza. He did not condemn terrorism; he did not condemn the heinous crimes of this attack that occurred on Israeli soil. The worst part is that he has not addressed this, which gives his words even more weight. When you have French citizenship and our country has experienced a teacher being killed, we have hostages in Gaza, and we have French and Franco-Israeli citizens murdered in Israel, the least you can do is write a message regarding these people. It is unimaginable that he has not done so. He became a football star because he was born in France, because he grew up in France, because he trained in French training centers, and because he was selected for the French national team. And yet, there is no mention of the recently killed French teacher? Does he have no message for all these hostages, for the murdered, for the raped?" said the European Parliament member.
