80% of Israelis Believe Netanyahu Should Bear Responsibility

According to a poll by the Maariv newspaper, a vast majority of Israelis believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should publicly accept responsibility for the shocking failures that led to the devastating Hamas attack on October 7. The leaders of Israel's defense and Shas party have already assumed such responsibility, along with the defense minister and the finance minister.
80% of Israelis say Netanyahu should follow their example. Among the respondents, 69% had voted for Netanyahu's Likud party in last year's elections. Only 8% of the public believes the Prime Minister is not at fault.

It is important to note that on the morning of October 7, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented missile attack from the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army's press service stated that extremists launched over 3,000 rockets. Additionally, dozens of terrorists infiltrated border areas in southern Israel. The military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement announced that it was carrying out an operation called 'Al Aqsa Flood' against Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also announced the initiation of Operation 'Iron Swords' against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
