Residents of Border Communities' Utility Expenses to Be Compensated for Another 3 Years

The government decided today, October 19, to extend the term for providing social support to border communities for another three years.

Currently, the regulations specify the volumes eligible for compensation, the compensation procedure, and the list of border communities receiving compensation in the Republic of Armenia. Presently, support is provided to 82 settlements within 23 border communities.

The social support program has been in operation since 2015 and has had its term extended twice. According to the current law, the term expires on January 1, 2024.

The proposal aims to extend the term of the current law for another three years, allowing residents of the included settlements in beneficiary communities to continue receiving compensation for natural gas, electricity, irrigation water, and to benefit from other established compensation programs.
