About a Thousand Russian Citizens Held Hostage Due to Gaza Blockade
“Approximately a thousand citizens of Russia and their family members have become virtual hostages due to the blockade of the Gaza Strip,” stated Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN.
Speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on October 18, Nebenzya added that Al Ahli Hospital is one of 20 hospitals in northern Gaza that has received a notice from Israeli military demanding evacuation. However, it has been impossible to comply with the order.
“As a result of the attack on the hospital, the current death toll and number of injured have exceeded 800. We demand an objective investigation into this crime and punishment for those responsible,” Nebenzya emphasized during his address at the UN Security Council.
He also announced that Russia is initiating the resumption of a special session in the UN General Assembly dedicated to the protection of the civilian population of Palestine, as reported by TASS on October 18.
“The humanitarian blockade of the Palestinian enclave brings its entire population to the brink of survival, a sacrifice happening right before our eyes,” Nebenzya stated.
