VIDEO: Olaf Scholz Gets Lost on Red Carpet in Albania, Compared to Biden
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, got lost on the red carpet in Tirana, the capital of Albania, during the Western Balkans Summit. A video of the incident involving the politician quickly circulated on social media.
In the footage, the 65-year-old Scholz initially walks along the carpet but then turns around and steps over a barrier. It was only after journalists pointed out that he was going the wrong way that the Chancellor returned to the red carpet.
Many users have drawn comparisons between this incident and the moments involving the 80-year-old American leader Joe Biden. The U.S. President is known for greeting invisible people and frequently stumbling. Members of Congress have even called for the 46th President of the U.S. to take a mental acuity test. Last year, Biden also got lost on the red carpet during a visit to Palestine, where he was assisted by the country's President Mahmoud Abbas.
“German sleepy Joe: Took the Biden test. Scholz is becoming Biden. We are governed by idiots,” commented one internet user on the video featuring the confused German Chancellor.
