The War Against Hamas Will Be Heavy and Long, But We Will Win: Chief of Staff of Israel

The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, believes that the war against the Palestinian Hamas movement will be long and difficult. According to him, following the Hamas attack on October 7, the initiative is now in the hands of Israeli military personnel.

"The war will be heavy and long, and the Israel Defense Forces will win it," Halevi wrote in a letter addressed to Israeli soldiers, as cited by Times of Israel. "We have inflicted damage on the enemy's infrastructure and leadership, and they have suffered heavy losses. We have also been hit and take responsibility for it, but now the initiative is in our hands," the letter states.

The war between Israel and Hamas, which began on the morning of October 7 with an attack by Palestinian militants on Israeli territory, has now been ongoing for ten days. According to recent data, 1,400 people have died in Israel, while the number of casualties in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 3,000.
