Spanish Parliament Condemns Azerbaijan's Actions in Artsakh
On October 17, seven factions of the Spanish Parliament adopted a resolution regarding Azerbaijan's assaults on Artsakh, which resulted in the forced displacement of thousands of Armenians.
The factions strongly condemned Azerbaijan's “unjustifiable attack, which poses a threat to regional security and stability.”
They expressed dissatisfaction with Azerbaijan's refusal to adhere to the ceasefire agreement reached on November 9, 2020, and its failure to implement the rulings of the International Court of Justice.
Spanish legislators demanded that Azerbaijan immediately halt its hostile actions, reminding that the country had previously ratified the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. They condemned the human losses recorded on the Armenian side due to Azerbaijani actions, expressing their solidarity with the Armenian population of Artsakh.
The statement emphasized that the European Union can and should contribute to efforts aimed at achieving a negotiated and lasting resolution to the conflict.
